Nebraska Unemployment Eligibility
If you live in the state of Nebraska and have been recently laid off from your job, you can file for your unemployment benefits. However, you must meet Nebraska unemployment eligibility requirements.
Nebraska unemployment eligibility requirements are listed on the Nebraska unemployment website, and you can find more information there. Nebraska unemployment benefits amounts are based on the wages you have earned during a one-year period.
To qualify for unemployment benefits, you need to meet the following criteria:
You must have been laid off through no fault of your own. In other words, you cannot have been fired for misconduct or any other reasons which were considered your fault.
While receiving unemployment benefits, you must be available and willing to work at all times. For example, if you are offered work, you cannot say you are on vacation.

You must show that you are actively seeking work by contacting employers, unions, submitting applications, etc.
You are not allowed to refuse any NE job offered to you for which you are qualified to do. In other words, you cannot turn down a job simply because you do not like the job offer.
Unless it is previously approved, you cannot be attending school full time. Attending school interferes with being available for work at all times.
You cannot be receiving money from your former NE employer, such as vacation pay or severance pay.
Collecting money from more than one state is not allowed. For example, you cannot have moved to Nebraska, filed for unemployment, and still collect your unemployment benefit from your former state.
You cannot be self employed or previously self employed.
You must continue to meet all the above criteria to meet the Nebraska unemployment eligibility requirements or else you may lose your unemployment benefits.
