Nebraska Unemployment Claim

If you are a resident of Nebraska and have never had to file a Nebraska unemployment claim, you will find the process is an easy one.  The Nebraska unemployment insurance program operates under federal guidelines and may be different from other unemployment insurance programs in other states.

You can access the official NE unemployment website to file a Nebraska unemployment claim by going to https://uibenefits.nwd.ne.gov/BPSWeb/jsp/BPSClaimantWelcome.jsp.  You will be able to file your initial claim there, or you can call the toll free claims office at 1-877-725-9918.

When you call the toll free number or file online, you will need to give them certain information.  They will ask you for your social security number and your driver’s license number.  You will also be asked to choose a NE unemployment PIN number that you will use if you have to call back or log in again online.

Nebraska Unemployment Claim

To meet the basic eligibility requirement to receive a weekly benefit amount from your initial Nebraska unemployment claim, you must have been employed during the last 18 months.  The amount used to determine your claim will be established on a base period that is determined by state law.  If you quit your job or were fired, you cannot receive unemployment benefits.  Also, you have to have been laid off through no fault of your own.  The criteria for determining this are based on Nebraska law.

The benefit amount that you can receive on a Nebraska unemployment claim is based on how much you earned during your base period.  After you file your initial claim, it may take two to three weeks before your first benefit claims check is received.

For further information or to speak with a Nebraska unemployment claim specialist, call the toll free number mentioned above.  You can also find more information by going to the Nebraska Workforce Development website at
